Assistance is available for those with low income. Texas Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) tries to assist all the eligible households. The program provides financial assistance along with education and case management to improve prospects of energy saving and efficient use.
PUCT is the body that regulates the state's electric, telecommunication, and water and sewer utilities, implements respective legislation, and offers customer assistance in resolving consumer complaints. The mission of the PUCT is to protect customers, foster competition, and promote high-quality infrastructure.
ERCOT manages the flow of electric power to more than 25 million Texas customers -- representing about 90 percent of the state’s electric load. As the independent system operator for the region, ERCOT schedules power on an electric grid that connects more than 46,500 miles of transmission lines and 600+ generation units. It also performs financial settlement for the competitive wholesale bulk-power market and administers retail switching for 7 million premises in competitive choice areas.
As Texas is a coastal state, it is very important to be prepared for Hurricane season. Key preparation steps include evacuation planning, assembling an emergency kit, gathering of important files and information in the event of evacuation, pets, securing your home, and more.
